About Me

My passion for being crafty is genetic.

Crafting has been a hobby, love, and way of life for as long as I can remember. My mom and Grannie brought out my creative side from a very young age.

In my childhood I was taught to do plastic canvas and basic needlepoint on my Grannie's boat "ECHO" in addition to more days that I could count sitting in her kitchen with my Mom painting ceramics. Many Saturday morning breakfasts were spent either in the kitchen or out on the patio working on one craft project or another - latch hook rugs, wind spinners, beading, Christmas ornaments.....the list goes on and on!

Throughout my adolescence the crafting continued: weaving, latch hook rugs designed by my Great Uncle Warren, more detailed needlepoint, and failed attempts at sewing

In college, my Grannie taught me how to knit on a weekend home from NYC. I was hooked immediately, and rarely went anywhere around Manhattan without a skein of yarn and needles in my bag! My Mom attempted to teach me how to crochet while I was in NYC as well - but I couldn't master the yarn tension, or having 1 hook vs. 2 needles. Instead, I continued to knit scarves for everyone I knew!

It took a hip injury taking me out of commission 2 months in DC in order for me to finally master crocheting. It took another 3 years for my "addiction" to reach the point where I crochet, at least something, about 360 days out of the year.

In 2010, while my Mom was visiting Silver Spring over the 4th of July I finally got the "bug" to master sewing successfully once and for all! After 2 days at the pool talking non-stop about how and why I thought now was the time for me to learn, Mom took me to buy my first sewing machine, and very patiently taught me the ins and outs of reading, using, and cutting out a pattern. My specialty may be nothing more than pajama pants/shorts and pillow cases, but I LOVE being able to make both for myself and my family.

Anything custom made to your body type and preferences is priceless in my book!
